Haldane students interviewed as first time voters
Young Voters See Chance to Drive Real Change
Young voters may be awakening to their collective power at the ballot box, and they could play a decisive role in choosing the next president this November.
For many years, younger people showed little interest in asserting their power on Election Day. That changed in the 2004 presidential race, when 42 percent of 18- to 24-year-olds voted in the election between President Bush and Sen. John Kerry. Learn more

May 6, 2008
Dear Families,
It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is upon us. Our students and teachers are hard at work, focused on a strong finish. As we approach Regents week, there are a few procedural items and important dates that I would like to review.
Prom is May 16th. Students attending prom will receive a contract from the advisor outlining rules and expectations. Our spring concert is May 22nd at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. There will be no school on May 23rd, due to an unused snow day. The Senior Dinner is on June 4th, at 7 p.m. at Dutchess Manor. On June 5th at 7 p.m. we will have our annual academic awards ceremony in the auditorium. Graduation is June 21st at 6:30 p.m. Seniors will receive special instructions regarding graduation with their tickets.
Beginning June 11th, we will have four days of a modified schedule for Regents review and local Final exams. The detailed schedule of times is attached, along with a transportation schedule. The review sessions on these days are mandatory. Further optional review sessions will be scheduled by the teachers during Regents week. Regent’s examinations begin on June 17th, and run through the morning of the 25th according to the attached schedule.
This can be both an exciting and stressful time of year for our students. With normal extra help, H.E.A.R.T., scheduled review, and optional review, there are ample opportunities for students to receive support for success. This is a great time of the year to promote positive time management both in school and at home. Together, we can help our students reach their goals. Please feel free to call the school with any questions about the schedule or other end of year procedures.
Sincerely,
Brian J. Alm

Students can also avail themselves of college credit programs including University in High School through S.U.N.Y. Albany in English, Science Research, Spanish and French.
ATHLETICS & CO-CURRICULAR
Many students participate in one or more co-/extra-curricular activities. In fact, many students are three-season athletes, performing artists, and writers who achieve at the top of their class. Active participation and academic success are central to Haldane's mission. |
