Welcome to HALDANE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
|
Maggie Davis June 6, 2008 Dear Parents and Guardians, I would like to inform you of a change in our end of the year procedures. Report cards will be distributed on the last day of school as usual. Summer Reading Lists, Math Activities, and No Excuse Words will be included. However, we will mail the Teacher Assignments on Monday, June 30th. Faculty and parents have often shared their experiences of the last day of school. On too many occasions placement information distracts parents and students from the excitement of the end of the school year and the beginning of summer vacation. Instead of teachers having the opportunity to say goodbye to students and parents, they are involved in discussions about the placement decisions or are meeting next year’s parents and students. We would like to make sure that the last day of school is a happy one for all. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Maggie Davis |
Dear Fifth Grade Parents: Before you know it fifth grade students will be leaving the elementary school to become middle-schoolers. We will celebrate this event with a Moving-Up Ceremony which will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 12:00 noon in the auditorium. Parents, faculty and guests are invited. Fifth grade students will not have school that morning, but will arrive at approximately 11:30 AM to line up with their classes. Students will proceed into the auditorium. After reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, the Principal will welcome parents, students and guests. The Presidential Achievement and Excellence Awards will be presented to eligible students. Following the awards, all students will be called to the stage individually to receive the Certificate of Promotion. Students will sing the Alma Mater to close the ceremony. All parents, students and guests are invited to the cafeteria for refreshments after the ceremony. Students are asked to dress appropriately for the occasion. Boys should wear nice pants and a shirt, no sneakers or jeans. Girls should wear a dress, nice pants, or a skirt. No spaghetti straps or short skirts should be worn and shoes with high heels should be avoided. Please remind students that they will be walking across the stage and up and down stage steps. I would like to thank everyone in advance for helping to make our fifth grade celebration a special one for our students. Additional information will be sent in the beginning of June. Please note! There will be a Middle School Orientation for parents on May 21, 2008 at 7:00 PM in the Music Room. You will receive information from the Middle School Office concerning this event. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Maggie Davis
